Adult Ministries
There is something for everyone at First Baptist Church of Marianna, especially for adults. There are hundreds of adults who come together every week for Bible studies and encouragement. Age groups vary from young married couples to senior adults; there are so many ways to get plugged-in to First Baptist Marianna!
We also offer special ladies' events and studies. There are also men’s events which include a steak dinner, fish fries and Bible studies to encourage men in their walk with the Lord.
Through the leadership of the Lord, we provide a place for the entire family to grow together and learn the principles of God that are taught in God’s Holy Word.
Singles Ministries
Looking for answers to life’s toughest questions? Do I marry and if so, who? Where do I go to school? Where do I work? Where do I go to make lasting friendships? What am I going to do with my life? What about God? What about the mistakes I have made in my life?
Most singles are looking for answers to the struggles that single young adults face today. Our goal at First Baptist is to help discover the truth that is only found in God. We believe that all the answers to life’s questions are found in the Word of God (The Bible). The Bible is taught in such a way that it is made applicable to understand how God can bring meaning to life. There are also many “get-togethers” designed just for college age and singles to meet together and have fun building relationships and reaching out to each other and to the community.
Senior Adult Ministries
Senior Adult Ministry is very important at First Baptist Church. We love and cherish our seniors with great respect. Our church has a wonderfully large group of seniors who attend worship, Sunday School and special events. They are involved in making the ministry of First Baptist Church function. Our seniors are a vital part of our church.
There are many ministries and activities that seniors can be a part of: Sunday morning Bible study, Sunday night Bible study, Habitat for Humanity, Chipola Christian Ministry and others. Also, there are national and international mission projects where seniors can participate.
Also, JOY Club is a program just for seniors with a monthly meeting providing important information as well as exciting entertainment. JOY Club offers dinner trips and out of town trips.
New Members Class
Reaching out to new members of our FBC family is of great importance. Our desire is for every member to feel welcome and at home. We have recently formed a "New Members Class" which will teach all new members various aspects of the ministry here at FBC. This class meets for several weeks each quarter to discuss the history, vitality, doctrinal beliefs and other aspects of serving Christ within the FBC family. Please contact the church office for class dates and location.
Children's Ministry
We have DiscipleLand Sunday School classes for all ages, birth thru 5th grade. Extended Session is available for children, 0-3 years, during the Worship Services, morning & evening. Children’s Church is available for children, 4yr.-2nd gr. during the morning Worship Services during the school year.
Nursery Ministry
We love our babies & preschoolers at First Baptist. Our goal is to provide a safe, secure and clean environment for our little ones. It is often hard for a new mother to leave her little one in a new area and we understand your concern. In some churches there is only a nursery, but we provide a preschool so your child can learn about God and Jesus during their stay. All preschool workers are trained to insure parents that each child is being properly cared for while you worship or attend Bible study. In addition, we have a check- in and check-out system with beepers to keep each child safe.
Kingdom Seekers: First Baptist Church's Wednesday After School Program
Awana is an intense Scripture memorization program for children. Starting at 2 years of age through the 5th grade, children are taught God's Word and how to apply it to their lives. Awana helps children to apply Psalm 119:11, "I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you."
Tips for Awana Parents:
+ Remind your child to bring his/her Bible, Awana book & vest/shirt to each club meeting.
+ Recite this week's verse with your child several times during the week.
+ Review previous verses on an on-going basis.
+ Establish a regular time to work on verses...maybe before bedtime or at the breakfast table, or after supper...find a time that you can be consist. If you make it a priority, it will become a priority to your child.
+ Check your child's Awana book for projects you will work on together.
+ Remember, "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it." Proverbs 22:6
+ Have fun memorizing verses with your child. Let your child help you memorize a verse.
+ Be encouraging.
+ Look for ways during the week to apply a verse to a situation to encourage your child to do what is right or to continue in doing what is right.
