Brother Charles Pinkerton was called as Transitional Pastor
on Sunday, March 30, 2008. Brother Charles Pinkerton will lead us through a
process of rediscovering who we are, why we are here, what our community is
like, and how we can make a difference. The goal of this process is for First
Baptist to become as healthy as possible so that we can reach more and make
better followers of Jesus Christ.
Brother Charles is a native Floridian. He was born to a military family in
Waverly, Florida on November 23, 1938. He has lived in 20 states and two foreign
countries. His wife, Carma, now retired, is a Registered Nurse. Charles earned
an Associate of Arts Degree from Santa Fe Community College, Gainesville, and a
Bachelor of Arts Degree from Stetson University, Deland, plus a Master’s Degree
from New Orleans Baptist Seminary. The Pinkertons have been married for 51
years. They have three children, six grand-children and four great
grandchildren.
Charles and Carma Pinkerton have been involved in missions for over thirty-five
years. For the past 25 years they have taken a leadership role in the Jamaica
Mission, which until recently was the longest ongoing Southern Baptist volunteer
international mission effort. Charles has served as the President of the Jamaica
Mission for the past 14 years. Charles formed International Impact Ministries (IIM)
in 2004. That same year the Jamaica Mission project became a part of IIM.
Brother Charles has previously served a Transition Pastor of Celebration Church
in Tallahassee and more recently, First Baptist Church of Niceville. |
